One of the most common questions we get at OMORPHO is, “How do I care for my OMORPHO Gravity Sportswear?” The answer may surprise you: wash it like you would other clothing! We designed our workout gear to be easy to use and clean, and they get even more comfortable with wear.
Caring for your G-Vest
The OMORPHO G-Vest is carefully constructed and incorporates hundreds of stainless steel ball bearings encased inside the specially designed G-spheres. This patented design evenly distributes weights and allows complete flexibility for any activity.
We recommend that you spot clean it after you break a sweat or rinse in cold water and hang it out to drip dry in the shade. Please note the G-Vest should not be put in a washer or dryer.
Caring for your Gravity Apparel
The answer for our Gravity Apparel may surprise you: wash it like you would other clothing! We designed our workout gear to be easy to use and clean, and they get even more comfortable with wear.
Understandably, people want to know if it’s okay for the weights in their OMORPHO Gravity Apparel to go in a washing machine or dryer. The answer is yes, and here’s why. In addition to using only the best performance fabrics available, the weighted spheres in our products are abrasion-resistant polymers that are mechanically attached to the fabric. A lot of athletic shoes on the market use the same technology and material on the exterior of shoes, which helps make them both durable and easy to wash with minimal to no scratching.
Just like other workout gear and apparel, taking care of your OMORPHO gear will help it stay fresh for longer. Even though our products are high-quality, durable and don’t require washing after every use, most people prefer to wash them on a regular basis. Given their proximity to your body and to sweat, it makes sense to keep them clean.
Here’s what we recommend to care for your OMORPHO Gravity Apparel:
1. Air dry your OMORPHO gear in between workouts and before washing.
While it might be tempting to keep your worn workout gear folded up or in a pile somewhere, we recommend letting your OMORPHO weighted workout gear air out until it’s time to put them in the wash. This helps them stay fresh and keeps the fabric in good condition for longer.
2. Keep your OMORPHO Gravity Apparel inside out for both washing and drying.
The dirtiest part of any workout garment is the surface that touches your body. Turning your OMORPHO gear inside-out makes it easier for it to get thoroughly washed and dried, and it also helps to keep the exterior of the garment protected. Personally, I keep mine inside out anytime I’m not wearing it, even if it’s newly washed and folded.
3. Use detergent that’s made for performance fabrics.
Whether you’re using a washing machine or hand-washing your clothes, we suggest using a gentle detergent that’s made for performance fabrics. These are often better at killing or removing odor-causing bacteria, and they do the job of cleaning with less potential damage to fabric. As always, don’t be tempted to use more detergent because your OMORPHO has been sweat in; using too much causes soap to build up in the fibers of your clothing, which attracts odor-causing bacteria.
4. Don’t use fabric softener or bleach.
For OMORPHO gear we don’t recommend using fabric softener or bleach. They can damage the technical properties of the fabric and diminish its ability to be sweat-wicking and antibacterial. If you notice a stain, we recommend pre-treating it right away and then washing sooner than later (ideally less than a week later).
5. Make distilled vinegar and water your backup plan.
Sometimes, clothing retains odor even after using a washing machine and detergent. If you want or need a deeper clean, you can submerge your OMORPHO apparel for 20-30 minutes in one part white distilled vinegar and four parts cold water and rinse them in water after.
